Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an aromatic polymer having excellent hue using a phosphorus compound as a stabilizer by reacting a specific dicarboxylic acid component with a diol component in molten state under heating in the presence of a diaryl carbonate using an ester interchange catalyst, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This aromatic polymer is produced by reacting (A) a dicarboxylic acid component containing 20-95mol% of 2,6- naphthalenedicarboxylic acid with (B) a dial compound of formula I [A1 and A2 are phenylene; X is 1,1-cycloalkylidene, etc., of formula II (R1 and R2 are H, halogen, 1-6C alkyl, etc.) or formula III ((q) is 4-10)] [e.g. 2,2-bis(4- hydroxyphenyl)propane] and (C) a diaryl carbonate (preferably diphenyl carbonate) at molar ratios expressed by formula IV and formula V in the presence of an ester interchange catalyst free from alkali metal and a catalyst consisting of lithium carbonate in molten state a 320-400°C and adding 0.001-1.0mol% of a phosphorus compound to the reactional product as a stabilizer.
