Title:
DIRECTTCOUPLED CLUTCH MECHANISM FOR TORQUE CONVERTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS55166561
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To simplify a construction by a constitution wherein a direct-coupled clutch is turned automatically on at a connection, and thus an external controlling mechanism for a torque converter is made unnecessary. CONSTITUTION:When a torque converter decreases its torque amplifying action slowly to come into a connection domain, a stator element 4 fixed by a one-way clutch 19 so far begins to rotate. Then an outer race 64 of the clutch 19 also rotates, and a valve member 76 provided on the outer race 64 is subjected to a centrifugal force. When the centrifugal force develops to exceed a given value, the valve member 76 moves upward against a leaf spring 77, interrupts a converter oil passage 66 and gets a direct-coupled oil passage 67 through. Thus a pressure oil from an oil reservoir 60 is introduced into a pressure chamber 50 by way of oil passages 65, 67, 70, 73, depresses a piston 33 against a spring 43, interlocks a friction surface 42 of the piston 33 and a friction plate 45 coupled to a turbine core 12 of an actuated element 32, thus turning a direct-coupled clutch 30 on.
