To provide a system and a method for monitoring various kinds of electrostatic discharge generated in a gravure rotary press and the like.
One or more antennas 31 are provided in the periphery of a printing part 3 of the gravure rotary press 1. An ammeter 51 is connected to a grounding route of one point provided for each of components formed by conductors of the gravure rotary press 1, for example, an entanglement preventing bar 29, an ink pan 15 and a plate cylinder 13. The antennas 31 and the ammeter 51 are communicably connected to a discharge detector 61. When output data of the antennas 31 is not smaller than a predetermined value, and a specific frequency component is detected, or when output data of the ammeter 51 is not smaller than a predetermined value, the discharge detector 61 determines that electrostatic discharge has occurred, outputs a signal for alarming to an alarming device 59, and outputs a signal for stopping the gravure rotary press 1 to a rotary press controller 55.
