Abstract:

PURPOSE: To develop the discharge electrode made of glass lining having an excellent dielectric constant, dielectric strength characteristic and thermal impact resistance by coating the surface of a metallic conductor with borate or phosphate glass contg. the oxides of specific elements.

CONSTITUTION: The discharge electrode is produced by forming the coating layer consisting of the borate glass or phosphate glass containing oxides of rare earth metals, the oxides of transition metals or the oxides of group 7 elements of the periodic table as dielectrics on the surface of the metallic conductor made of a carbon steel, etc. The industrial discharge electrode which obviates the peeling of the glass coating layer by the difference in the coefft. of thermal expansion from the metallic conductor and has the excellent dielectric strength characteristic and thermal impact resistance is obtd.
