Abstract:
To prevent the degradation of performance when a ballast case in a discharge lamp device is thinned.
In this discharge lamp device, a cross-sectional area S (mm2) of a core 1a of a starter transformer 1 received in a ballast case 10 and an inside height H (mm) on the ballast case 10 satisfy a relationship of H≤-0.0015.S2+0.54.S-11.49 and a closed magnetic circuit core 1a is used as the core. In addition, a gap 1c of the closed magnetic circuit core 1a is formed on the center side of the ballast case 10.
