To provide a discharge lamp lighting device with a simple structure and a dimming lower limit enlarged, and to provide a lighting fixture using the same.
The discharge lamp lighting device is provided with a DC power source circuit 1 for outputting a DC voltage Vdc, a high frequency power source circuit 2 for generating from the DC voltage Vdc output from the DC power source circuit 1 and outputting a high frequency power, a resonance circuit 3 which is arranged between the high frequency power source circuit 2 and an electrodeless discharge lamp 4 and supplies the high frequency power to the electrodeless discharge lamp 4, a dimming control circuit 5 for dimming-controlling the electrodeless discharge lamp 4, and a frequency controlling section 6 of changing a high frequency power source circuit 2 driving frequency. When the high frequency power of the resonance circuit 2 is maximal, a dual resonance circuit is structured so that an output voltage Vout may become minimal and the driving frequency is changed so that the output voltage Vout may become minimal.
