To provide a lighting device for a discharge lamp that prevents the control circuit from malfunctioning due to the radiated noise generated by the high voltage of the inverter.
In a printed circuit board 1, there are provided a capacitor 3 connected in parallel with the output of a direct current source, an inverter for converting the charged voltage of the capacitor into a high frequency output applied to the discharge lamp, a control circuit 6 for controlling the high frequency output of the inverter, a control circuit ground 7 connected to a ground pattern loop 8 formed to surround the control circuit, and a condenser ground 9 connected to the ground pattern loop. The high frequency output of the inverter is supplied through the lamp socket 10 to the discharge lamp. The control circuit is arranged neat the lamp socket. A voltage detector 11 is provided to detect the abnormal voltage, having a ground 12 connected to the ground pattern surrounding the control circuit.
