The discharge lamp 1 is provided with a light emitting tube 3 having electrodes on each of end portions of a glass tube 19 and mouthpieces 7, 9 which are provided on each of the end portions of the glass tube 19 and supplies power. In the light emitting tube 3, portions from an intermediate portion 37 to both of the end portions of the glass tube 19 have two circling portions 33, 35 which circle on a virtual axis D and part with the virtual axis D while they move from the intermediate portion 37 to both of the end portions, and the end portions of the glass tube 19 are fixed by silicon resin 69 on neighboring portions of the glass tube 19 neighboring the virtual axis D side.
