Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a discharge space control method for electric discharge machining in which the discharge space can be more precisely controlled according to a change of discharge delay time, and a device therefor.
CONSTITUTION: A tool electrode and a workpiece are opposed to each other with a fine space, whereby a space between electrodes is formed, a voltage is intermittently applied to the space between electrodes to induce a discharge, and a machining is performed by the discharge. After the voltage is applied to the space between electrodes, a first point of time when a first prescribed time T0 for determining the minimum operating time of the discharge cycle passed and a second point of time when a second prescribed time T3 for performing no voltage application to the space between electrodes passed are determined, and the following voltage application is started in the later point of time of the first point of time and the second point of time to control the discharge space of the electric discharge machining.
