Title:
DISCHARGE TYPE GAS LASER DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61176177
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a high-output laser device of small size and low price by decreasing a discharge starting voltage by forming a plane on a downstream side of a gas of a split electrode of a cathode into a concave form and arranging a needle-like projection at the front end.

CONSTITUTION: Plural split electrodes 7 which are to be a cathode of a discharge-type gas laser device are arranged with intervals on an insulator 4 oppositely to an anode 2. The split electrode 7 is composed of a shaft part 8 to which a ballast resistor 3 is connected and an electrode part 9 formed of a bending plate provided with a projection 10 formed on the lower end. The convex plane 11 of bend of said plate confronts a flow of a discharge gas 6. A cathode plane on a downstream side of the gas is made concave 12 thereby enlarging an area of a stable negative glow region and stabilizing a discharge. A corona discharge is caused from the projection 10 at the front end of the cathode electrode and accordingly the starting voltage of the laser glow discharge is decreased.
