Abstract:

To provide a discharging member which can even be easily cleaned when discharge product, paper powder and toner external additives are stuck due to use over a long period of time and has no splitting, etc., in the discharging member in which such as the discharge product, the paper powder and the toner external additives do not stick to a surface of a charging electrode even in use over a long period of time, with uniform discharging property since no soiling occurs in the charging electrode, and image failure such as a stripe state image unevenness does not occur when assembled to an image forming apparatus.

The electrodes are needle-like electrodes or wire-like electrodes in the discharging member used for charging charged object by applying voltage to the electrode. A covering film with 50 to 2000 nm film thickness of inorganic oxides as a main component is formed on the surface of the electrode.
