This tableware washer and drier comprises a washing tank 1, a tableware basket 2 for storing washed objects such as tableware and cooking tools, a washing pump 3 for pressurizing washing water, a heater 4 for heating the washing water, a washing nozzle 5 having an injection hole for injecting the washing water, a drain pump 6 for discharging the washing water out of a washer, and a control device 7 for controlling operation of the washing pump 3 and the heater 4. A water feed valve 8 and an ion exchange device 9 are provided in a passage used for feeding water from a water pipe into the washing tank 1. Because water feeding, water always travels through the ion exchange device 9, and metal ions are completely removed from water going into the washing tank 1.
