Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily change a transfer speed without reducing availability by selecting first, second track groups that the transfer speeds are higher/lower than target speeds and alternately recording/reproducing that data on the first, second track groups.
SOLUTION: When a write-in command is inputted, a recording/reproducing control circuit 10 outputs the target transfer speed VT included in the write-in command to a target transfer speed register 11. This target transfer speed register 11 sets/stores the target transfer speed VT to output it to a track group setting circuit 13. Succeedingly, the track group setting circuit 13 compares the target transfer speed VT with stored transfer speeds V1, V2,...VN, and selects the combination of two zones between the zone where the transfer speed is lower than the target transfer speed VT and the zone where it is higher than the VT. At this time, the mean transfer speed in two zones becomes a fixed value even when any combination between two zones is selected, and the transfer speed is matched with the target transfer speed.
