Abstract:
PURPOSE:To judge the using propriety of a disk medium and a head by being equipped with a function which detects the output mean value of the reproduced reading waveform of data written on the medium of the title disk device. CONSTITUTION:The reproduced reading waveform of the data are all-wave- rectified by an all wave rectifying circuit 13, made into a direct current by a detecting circuit 14, the level of a voltage which is made into the direct current is adjusted by a gain correcting circuit 15, and a voltage level is measured for a constant time by a sample-and-hold circuit 16. A result is stored into a buffer 17 as the mean value of the envelope of the reproduced reading waveform of the data, and the output is made into a reading mean value 2. The reading output mean value 2 is sent to a magnetic disk control device to be the host device of the magnetic disk device, it is processed as the data to monitor the using condition of the disk medium, and for example, presented to the judgment of the propriety of further use. Thus, the using propriety condition of the disk medium and the head can be judged.
