A CPU 7 calculates the traveling speed of a vehicle on the basis of vehicle speed pulse signals detected by a speed detection part 12, reads a servo gain related to the calculated traveling speed of the vehicle from a storage part 8, and supplies the read servo gain to a DSP 4. The DSP 4 generates servo control signals for executing servo control on the basis of the servo gain supplied from the CPU 7 and supplies the generated servo control signals to a servo driver part 5. The servo driver part 5 supplies a prescribed driving voltage to an optical pickup 2 so as to execute prescribed servo control on the basis of the servo control signals supplied from the DSP. Thus, the optical pickup 2 reads the information recorded in the recording medium 20.
