Title:
DISPLACEMENT TYPE RECIPROCATING INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6285106
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To allow a whole internal combustion engine of a small size to be employed with the provision of the improved thermal efficiency by arranging intake valves and/or exhaust valves on the upper side wall of a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:Both intake valves and exhaust valves are designed to be arranged on the upper side wall of a cylinder of an internal combustion engine. This enables the valve operating mechanism to be lowered in height as compared with the former one, and also enables a whole engine of a small size to be employed. In addition, a regenerative heat exchanger and a by-pass passage which goes around the exchanger, are arranged at a position just above a top dead center within a cylinder so as to improve the thermal efficiency.
