Title:
DISPLAY DEVICE CAPABLE OF ADJUSTING THE NUMBER OF SUBFIELDS ACCORDING TO BRIGHTNESS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2994630
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the number of subfields according to brightness so as to obtain an optimum image corresponding to brightness by providing an adjusting means for adjusting the number of subfields on the basis on brightness information.
SOLUTION: An image feature judging element 30 receives an average level Lav and a peak level Lpk and determines four parameters: the value N of N-times mode, a fixed-times coefficient A of a multiplier 12, the number Z of subfielcls and the number K of gradation display points. That is, the lower the average level Lav is, the less the number Z of subfields is, and the lower the peak level is, the more the number Z of subfields is. The lower the average level Lav is, the more a weighting multiple N is. With a map thus set, the high-low grades of brightness are emphasized to form a vivid, clear image.
