To provide a display device employing a spontaneous light emission type display element, wherein power consumption is reduced without damaging panel display quality.
The display device 1 employing the spontaneous light emission type display element includes a photographing lens 11, a stop means 12, a stop control means 26-1, an imaging device 15, an imaging section 16, a spontaneous light emission type display element 28 and a display element control means 20. The stop means 12 is disposed with respect to the photographing lens. The stop control means 26-1 controls a stop value of the stop means. The imaging section 16 receives a subject image formed by the photographing lens and performs photoelectric conversion on the subject image. The spontaneous light emission type display element 28 includes display pixels disposed in a matrix shape for displaying an image represented by image data. When the stop value is less than or equal to a predetermined value, the display element control section 20 controls so that power consumption of the display pixels for displaying a region except the main portion of the image relatively is lowered compared with the case of normal display.
