To provide a display device which, while maintaining discharge characteristics, is available at low cost.
The display device comprises: a luminous tube array consisting of a plurality of luminous tubes arranged in parallel; a plurality of display electrodes extending in a direction intersecting the longer direction of the luminous tubes disposed on the front side of the light-emitting tube array; and address electrodes disposed on the back side of the luminous tube array along the longer direction of each luminous tube. The luminous tubes each have a tube and an auxiliary discharge film disposed on the inner surface of the tube and partially differing in film thickness. The auxiliary discharge film is greater in film thickness on the front side than on the back side, and is provided with a phosphor film on the back side thereof which is smaller in film thickness than the front side.
