Abstract:
To provide a display device and a polarization axis rotation element that allow even an observer who wears polarized sunglasses to satisfactorily view a display image.SOLUTION: A display device comprises a display panel for displaying an image, a polarization axis rotation element positioned between the display panel and an observer, and a polarizer positioned between the display panel and the polarization axis rotation element. The polarization axis rotation element has a first area and a second area that is different from the first area. The orientation of a fist polarization axis of a first polarization component that has transmitted through the first area is different from the orientation of a second polarization axis of a second polarization component that has transmitted through the second area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
