Abstract:
To provide a display device for vehicles with which it is possible to easily determine the state of a driver wearing polarizing sunglasses.SOLUTION: A display device 1 for vehicles includes a polarizer 30 which is installed in front of a lens 12 of a camera 11 that successively acquires the face images of a driver P, in such a way that the direction of polarization equals the horizontal direction orthogonal to the vertical direction. A control unit 22 of the display device 1 for vehicles calculates a luminance value that corresponds to each face image, and causes the calculated luminance value to be stored by a storage means 27 as luminance value in association with a time series. Meanwhile, the control unit 22 compares the current luminance value among a plurality of luminance value information pieces stored in the storage means 27 with the past luminance value information and determines, when the current luminance value information is found to have decreased, that a driver P has worn polarizing sunglasses.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
