To excellently make gamma corrections of multiple primary-color signals with simple constitution through simple adjustments.
Primary-color signals R and B (red and blue) from input terminals 1R and 1B are supplied directly to liquid crystal panel driving circuits(IC) 2R and 2B including one-point polygon correction and a primary-color signal G(green) from an input terminal 1G is supplied to a liquid crystal panel driving circuit(IC) 2G including one-point polygon correction through a gamma correcting circuit 3G for two-point polygon approximation. The signals from those liquid crystal panel driving circuits 2R, 2G, and 2B are supplied to liquid crystal panels 4R, 4G, and 4B. The light beam from a light source lamp 6 is spectrally diffused by dichroic mirrors 7R and 7G and reflected by mirrors 8R, 8B, and 8B' to impinge on the liquid crystal panels 4R, 4G, and 4B. Then video lights based upon the primary-color signals R, G, and B modulated by those liquid crystal panels 4R, 4G, and 4B are made incident on a cross prism 9 and their composite video light is projected on a screen 11 through a projection lens 10.
