To display a storing case for rental items with its surface in plan on a shelf in a rental shop while being stored in a display case at the rental shop and clearly indicate rental items or easily return the storing case through a printed item or a copy paper which is the same as or similar to the printed item in the display case when the storing case is removed from the display shelf for its rental procedure.

There is provided a planar display system in which a display device is comprised of a transparent display case K having an insertion port 11 at its upper surface; and a case S for storing a printed item 21 such as a poem card of a rental item or displaying the item at a planar displaying position together with the rental item such as a disk or a video tape or a game software and the like recording either music of a CD cassette or image and having a back index as required. The storing case is inserted into the display case through the insertion port. The upper part of the case is protruded out upwardly from the insertion port. The display device is constructed such that either the printed item or a copy paper 12 of the printed item which is the same as or similar to the printed item in the inserted case is stored inside the planar display surface.
