To provide a display device with a simple structure without using a matrix segment structure, the display device being capable of independently controlling an emission of lights in a plurality of colors and displaying a light pattern with a high luminance.
The display device 1 includes a light emitting layer 2 and an electrode part 3. The electrode part 3 has a transparent electrode 5 and a counter electrode 6 opposite from the transparent electrode 5 across the light emitting layer 2. The light emitting layer 3 is divided into a plurality of regions and arranged on the transparent electrode 5. The counter electrode 6 includes a lamination of a first electrode layer 61 covering one region 2b facing an outer periphery of the light emitting layer and a second electrode layer 62 covering an other region 2a not facing the outer periphery of the light emitting layer, with an insulating layer 63 interposed between the electrode layers 61, 62. Because the light emission of each of the regions 2a, 2b can be independently controlled by supplying power to the light emitting layer 2 through different lines with respect to the regions 2a, 2b, by forming the light emitting layer 2 with desired colors for each of the regions 2a, 2b, light emission of a plurality of colors can be separately controlled.
