To provide an EL display device having good color balance, in which the light emission luminance of an EL material constituting a red color light emission layer is lower than the light emission luminance of an EL material constituting a blue color light emission layer and an EL material constituting a green color light emission layer.
The EL display device has a TFT 151, a pixel electrode connected electrically to the TFT, an EL element 152 in which the pixel electrode is a cathode or an anode, an insulation layer closing the EL element, means for applying a video signal to the EL element, and means for gamma-correcting a video signal, on the same substrate. The EL element has a first pixel having a blue color light emission layer, a second pixel having a green color light emission layer, and a third pixel having a red color light emission layer. The light emission luminance of an EL material constituting the red color light emission layer is lower than the light emission luminance of an EL material constituting the blue color light emission layer and an EL material constituting the green color light emission layer. The signal of red color is amplified by gamma-correction, and the signal of blue color or green color is attenuated.
