PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that automatically performs a highly precise correction of a picture quality without making a user conscious so that a display picture of the display device always becomes a desired picture quality. SOLUTION: When a power saving mode is detected by a power saving mode detection means (MPU) 106 on the basis of a synchronizing signal attached to a video signal supplied, a picture displayed on a CRT 105 is converted into a picture signal by a photoelectric transducer 110, a luminance or a chromaticity of the display picture is measured from a signal obtained by way of the photoelectric transducer 110 and an A/D converter by the correction means (MPU) 106 and a variety of parameters including an amplification degree of at least a video signal so that the display picture becomes the desired luminance or the chromaticity.
