To provide a display device which can make an enlargement of high quality and is improved in visibility without any special design alteration by installing a Fresnel lens which has a light absorbing layer and a light transmitting layer laminated alternately between the display surface of an instrument main body and a light-transmissive cover.

In the light transmitting layer 18 of the Fresnel lens 16, the light absorbing layer 17 is arranged periodically at right angles to the Fresnel lens surface to effectively absorb and remove multiple scattered light in each microprism. The light absorbing layer is preferably 0.01-5mm thick. This Fresnel lens 16 is installed between the light-transmissive cover 3 and the display surface 2b of the instrument main body 2a. The focal length of the Fresnel lens 16 needs to be 10-200mn. Then D2/D1 needs to be larger than 5, where D1 and D2 are the distance between the display surface 2b of the instrument main body 2a and the Fresnel lens 16 and the distance between the Fresnel lens 16 and light-transmissive cover 3 respectively.
