PURPOSE: To obtain a title apparatus wherein the type of a product to be inspected is changed over quickly and at low costs, and a mixed 3 production process of many kinds of products is possible.

CONSTITUTION: In a display inspection apparatus, whether a defect exists of not in a character display part 2 on which a character and a symbol are displayed is inspected by operating an operating key 3. The display inspection apparatus is provided with a keying part 6 which presses the operating key 3, with a television camera 4 which picks up the image of the character display part 2, with a display inspection part 5, in which an A/D converter 5a, a sampling circuit 5b, an image memory 5c and an operation and processing part 5d are provided, and with an inspection-procedure controller 7 which is composed of an inspection-procedure instruction part 7a which can edit an inspection procedure so as to be adapted to many kinds of products and of an inspection- procedure control part 7b. When the tytpe of a product to be inspected is changed over, it can be changed over simply by editing the inspection procedure for every kind.
