PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display inspection method and a display inspection device for a display panel, which can securely detect a line defect at the left edge or the right edge in a display area.
SOLUTION: A display cell column at the left edge or the right edge in the display area is made so as to emit light. Each luminous display cell, a non-luminous display cell in the display area near the luminous display cell, and a part outside the display area are detected by an image sensor, and the number and the length of bright lines in the column direction corresponding to the luminous display cell column at the left edge or the right edge are detected on the basis of the output video signal thereof. When the number and the length of the bright lines are less than prescribed values, it is judged that the column electrode corresponding to the display cell column is disconnected.
