To make wires for supplying a scanning driving voltage and a driving signal voltage to pixel electrodes to change respective pixels in a display state, such as Y-lines extending in a Y-direction (longitudinally), gate lines, or X-lines extending in an X-direction (laterally), not occupy an effective display area of a display equipped with a display layer and a display element having electrodes arranged so that pixels changing in state with a voltage are present in matrix on, for example, both the surfaces of liquid crystal 22, e.g. a liquid crystal display element 10.
A multi-layered wiring board 6 is arranged on the side of the liquid crystal display element 10 opposite from its display side, one or more ICs 4 driving the display element 10 is arranged on the surface of the board 6 on the opposite side from the display element 10, and the wiring board 6 has respective wire paths for transmitting respective signal voltages from terminals of the ICs 4 to the respective pixels corresponding thereto.
