Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display capable of displaying a high quality image by concealing disturbance of an image in the vicinity of boundary of the image part and the blank part.
SOLUTION: The display capable of displaying both an image signal having an aspect ratio matching the display screen and an image signal having a different aspect ratio comprises a means 5 for detecting the boundary position of the image part signal and the nonimage part signal of image signals having a different aspect ratio, a means 15 generating a control signal for masking the end part of the nonimage part and the image part based on a detected boundary position, and a masking means 6 for replacing the signal at the end part of the nonimage part and the image part by a specified mask signal.
