PURPOSE: To prevent poor focusing, by outputting distance information on a specified object within the closest range on the basis of both signals of a temperature information detection means and a distance detection means.

CONSTITUTION: When a shutter release button is pressed, light is emitted 2, and a distance-measuring section 1 turns for scanning in a distance-measuring range E within the screen F to measure the distance. Reflected lights from objects X and Y vary in the incidence position to a light-receiving element train 5 with the scanning of the distance measuring section 1. On the other hand, an infrared sensor 16 generates a pulse of a high level when the distance- measuring section 1 scans the high-temperature object X from the background and detects 18 the output of a photoelectric conversion circuit 6 to have a register 9 latching it. Then, the distance of the object X is decided on and information is transmitted to a register 12, by the output of which a camera lens is delivered 13 by a specified value and then, the shutter is released. This series of operation is done instantaneously and in actual, photographing is finished simply by pressing the shutter release button. Thus, the formation of an image sharply focused on the main object can be done eliminating photography focused on the other object.
