Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measuring instrument which can improve the distance measuring accuracy.
SOLUTION: A line sensor 36b is provided which has a plurality of photoelectric transducer elements for photoelectrically transducing and integrating lights received on an object to output electric pixel signals, a CUP 21 A/D-converts the pixel signals outputted from the photoelectric transducer elements of the line sensor 36b to obtain pixel data, 4EV-logarithmically transforms the pixel data to obtain 4EV-sensor data, and executes the distance measuring operation using the 4EV-sensor data. If no effective distance measuring operation value is obtained from the distance measuring operation using the 4EV-sensor data and the contrast is low with a high brightness, it inhibits the logarithmic transformation, actuates the line sensor 36b to re-execute the integral, and again executes the distance measuring operation using the pixel data obtained by A/D-converting the pixel data outputted by the photoelectric transducer elements of the line sensor 36b.
