To measure a distance to an object to be measured to a high accuracy, based on trigger signal and light-receiving signal.
A trigger signal S1 is formed by a controller 6. A pulse light S4 is emitted from a light-projecting unit 2 to be measured with this trigger signal S1 as the starting point, and the pulse light S3 reflected by the object to be measured is received by a light-receiving part 3, and a light-received euphotic signal S4 is formed. A composite signal S5 which composites the trigger signal S1 with the euphotic signal S4 by a compositing circuit 4 to one signal which continues along with a single time base is formed. The distance to the object to be measured is calculated, based on the position on the time base of the trigger signal S1 in this light-received signal S4, in the composite signal S4.
