To keep the smooth rotating operation of a distribution rotor.
In a fuel injection pump, a distribution rotor 13 rotated in synchronization with an engine is supported on a cylinder 12. An electromagnetic spill valve 40 for interrupting a spill passage is fixed to a screw hole 4a of a pump housing 4 by fastening. In the electromagnetic spill valve 40, a needle body 58 is substantially cylindrical, and inserted in a through hole 12a formed on the cylinder 12. A very small clearance about several μms is provided between the needle body 58 and the through hole 12a. A needle valve 59 moved according to the power on/off of a soleniod part 41 is held in a sliding hole 60 of the needle body 58 in such a manner as to slide. The needle body 58 is always energized upward in the drawing by a compression coiled spring 64, and the upper end of the needle body 58 is brought into contact with a lift stopper 56.
