Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a compd. useful as an additive for lubricants, machining fluids and hydraulic fluids, particularly, as extreme-pressure agents, wear resistant additives and friction improving agents.
CONSTITUTION: The compd. of the formula I [R1 and R2 are 3-18C alkyl, 5-12C cycloalkyl, 7-24C alkylphenyl or the like; R3 is H or methyl; A is OH, alkyl substituted with alkoxy, furfuryl or the like) such as O,O-diisopropyl- S-2-[carbo-2',3'-dihydroxypropoxy] ethyl = dithiophosphate. The compd. of the formula I is obtd. by adding dithiophosphoric acid of the formula III to acrylic acid of the formula II or methacrylic acid to obtain substituted carboxylic acid of the formula IV and subjecting it to esterification by using alcohol. The compd. of the formula I has very excellent wear controlling action, particularly, at low temps., contains no zinc, is a liq. and is easyily usable together with lubricating compositions.
