To absorb a shock of impact of a cargo against a barrier of a transport vehicle and easily unload a cargo put at the end part of the vehicle in a dock leveler with barrier.
This dock leveler is movable between a projected nonoperating position and an operating position, and comprises a lip 24 movable from a backward position to an extended position. By this, the lip 24 is partially extended relative to a cargo put at the end of a vehicle so as to be engaged with the deck of the vehicle but not to be in contact with the cargo. Also, the dock leveler comprises a barrier 32 installed elastically and providing a cushioning effect when a transport device is collided thereon. Thus, the possibility of damage to the barrier 32 and/or dock leveler is reduced, and the possibility of destruction of the cargo to be transported by the transport device is reduced.
