PURPOSE: To enable a sheet document to be smoothly conveyed without imposing any overload on a second conveyor driving means driving a second conveying means, in a document conveyor consisting of such a type as producing a state that this sheet document is held between both first and second conveying means.
CONSTITUTION: A first conveying means 10 is driven by a first conveyor driving means M2, and thereby a sheet document is conveyed by a second conveying means 21 to be driven by a second conveyor driving means M3. In addition, a load state in the second conveyor driving means M3 is monitored by a monitoring means 43 in advance, and usually document conveyance is carried out by a first mode, and only at a time when load in the second conveyor driving means M3 is increased, it is selected to a second mode, whereby the extent of load to the second conveyor driving means M3 is reduced.
