To provide a document management apparatus and a program whereby a disposal state of documents can properly be grasped.
In the case of printing image data obtained by a scanner section 13 to read an original or transmitted from an external device such as a PC, an identifier providing section 204 provides an identifier to the image data and an image data composite section 205 composes the identifier with the image data and the composed data are printed. On the other hand, a document information storage section 221 stores information denoting the disposal state of documents such as recovery or discarding by, e.g. each document. In the case of applying recovery or like disposal to a document, the scanner section 13 receiving the designation reads again the original to update the information denoting the disposal state.
