PURPOSE: To prevent words at the end of a line from being divided unnecessarily when a document contains a European word by performing justification behind the character at the tail of the line unless the character is in the European character or before or behind the word when the character at the tail is in the English word.

CONSTITUTION: For a document consisting of both Japanese and European words, the output control means of this device is equipped with a deciding means which decides whether or not the character corresponding to a character code read out of a document file is in the European word when the character is at the line tail of the document. The deciding means when deciding that the character is not part of the European word performs a justification process by regarding the character as a line tail character, but when it is decided that the character is part of the European word, a line tail processing for including or expelling the character is performed before or behind the word. Therefore, even the document which consists of the Japanese and European words does not have European words divided unnecessarily.
