An image input 1 reads a document and inputs image data. In an image processor 205, an information region is extracted from the document image data to check for overlap between overwritten region and information region. If they overlap, the image processor 205 performs processing of shifting the overwriting region, to a position where it is not overlapped on the information region, generates overwriting print data used for applying overwriting printing of the overwriting information to the overwriting region after shifting, and transmits the data generated to an image output 2. The image output 2 prints the overwriting print data on a surface, from which the image of the document has been read.
