Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform the structured retrieval of element designation and the character string retrieval of element contents on retrieval conditions when retrieving a structured document by solving the problems of conventional technology such as the size of a structure is limited by the repetition of the structure of depth of a hierarchy since bits are conventionally made correspondent the structure of the structure document for processing the structure of the structured document and there is the danger of wasting processing since management is separated in a method for separately managing a logical structure and characters.
SOLUTION: This device is provided with a means for storing information for specifying element ID for identifying elements and the positions of elements in the structured document as structured information and information showing the range of respective elements and the position relation of respective elements and a means for storing the position information of character strings to appear on respective elements and these two kinds of information are linked or coupled by the position information of elements and processed as one piece of index information so that the problems can be solved.
