PURPOSE: To improve the operability of a document producer by setting plural types of format information in response to the types of documents.
CONSTITUTION: When different types of documents are produced, a new document production key 11 is operated on a keyboard 1. Thus a controller 2 is set under an input mode for document data carried out through the keyboard 1. When a format change key 10 is operated, a list of discrimination names corresponding to the format information stored in an external storage device 3 is displayed on a display device 4. If an item discordant with the desired format information is detected, the desired data is supplied through the keyboard 1 and stored in a format buffer for display. Then an execution key 12 is operated to rewrite the priority information to 1 and the contents of the format buffer are stored in the device 3 for display.
