To provide a document reading apparatus capable of stamping a completion-indicating mark depending on a reading range in performing ADF reading.
Two stamps are provided in parallel with a main scanning direction. One of the stamps is made to be movable in the main scanning direction. A document is placed (step S1) and a document width is detected (step S2), and then, a document size is set before performing ADF reading (step S3). The reading is performed using any smaller one of a designated width and the detected width as a main scanning size (steps S6, S7). Reading processing is completed by reaching the document rear end to a reading position (YES in step S8) or completion of reading of a designated length (YES in step S9), the two stamps spaced at a distance equivalent to the main scanning direction each stamps a completion-indicating mark on both ends of the rearmost end of a reading range respectively (step S10). Thus, stamping of completion-indicating mark uniquely and easily deciding the reading range can be achieved.
