To provide a door control device and method capable of performing appropriate door movement control when a suspicious person enters a prescribed space in accompany with a normal person.
This door control device and method comprises: an identification information acquiring device (S5) for acquiring identification information of users; a user determination device (S6) for determining whether identification information coinciding with the identification information is registered on an user database; a counting device (S7) for counting the number of authenticated persons based on the determination result; an user number detection device (S9) for detecting the number of actual users inside the space; a usage status determination device (S10) for determining whether the number of the authenticated persons matches the number of the actual users after the door is opened; a door close permitting device (S11) for permitting the door to be closed when it is judged that the number of the authenticated persons matches the number of the actual users; and a door close prohibiting control device (S14) for prohibiting the door to be closed when it is judged that the number of the authenticated persons does not match the number of the number of the actual users.
