PURPOSE: To prevent an accident occurred upon elevation of an elevator cage up and down from taking place due to the collision and contact of an engaging piece with a connector in a door device having the engaging piece and the connector at the hall and the cage door, respectively.

CONSTITUTION: A connector 12 is always held in vertical state. When a cage door 5 is opened in the direction of an arrow A, the connector 12 is rotated against a spring 13 by a hook 10. When the door 5 is closed, the hook 10 is disengaged from the connector 12 to then drop to thereby operate a door switch 8 via a shorting contact 8a. Then, the connector 12 is so disposed that the hook 10 is disengaged from the connector 12 to drop when an engaging piece 7 provided at the door 5 corresponds to the space of the connector 2 provided at the hall door 1 by the operation of the switch 8 and is constructed not to elevate the cage when the piece 7 is disposed at the position where the piece 7 does not correspond to the space
