Abstract:
To provide a DOPA oxidase activity inhibitor, and to provide a whitening agent.
The DOPA oxidase activity inhibitor contains a compound represented by general formula (1) or a salt thereof as an active ingredient. The whitening agent contains the compound or the salt thereof as an active ingredient. In the formula, X is hydroxy or carboxy; R is alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl, which may be substituted; with the proviso that when X is carboxy, the total number of carbons in the group of R is ≥4; and n is 1 or 2.
