PURPOSE: To prevent an oil seal, when it is mounted, from generating scuffing by a breather hole opening part by forming a stepped part, having a predetermined gradient, in an internal or external diameter side member, having a breather hole, further opening it to a cut side of the stepped part in an inserting direction of the double lip oil seal.
CONSTITUTION: A double lip oil seal 51, making its lip parts 51a, 51b face to, for intance, external diameter members 13, 61 forming a breather hole 41, is fitted to a mounting part between an internal diameter member 16 and the external diameter members 13, 61. First fitting to this mounting part the lip part 51a, when it reaches a stepped part E, this lip part 51a is guided by the stepped part E, and mounting a lip surface of the lip part 51a to pass through with no forced contact with the breather hole 41, the double lip oil seal 51 is mounted with no generation of scuffing by the breather hole 41.
