Abstract:
PURPOSE: To generate a difference pattern by providing two input ports at the input terminal of an array so that one is connected to the right and central elements of an input radiator, and the other is connected to corresponding left and central elements. CONSTITUTION: Each dipole radiator 24 is formed of three straight conductive rods or wires described as left, central, and right radiator elements. The right and central dipole radiator elements of each radiator 24 constitute a first dipole array, and the left and central dipole radiator elements of each radiator constitute a second dipole array. Two input ports 28 are connected to each transmission line used for mutually connecting the radiator elements of each antenna array. Each transmission line includes plural conductive elements 32, and the alternate right and central radiator elements of each array are connected so as to be crossing each other. Two normal dipole antennas which are generally necessary for a direction finder can be unnecessistated by providing this antenna.
