To provide a furnace where a downward moving bed comprising a drying layer, a volatilization (gasification) layer and a combustion layer in an order from the top is formed on a fire grate by continuously supplying biomass (waste wood or the like) or an incineration object from the top part of the furnace in an erected vertical type reacting furnace and by running a hot gas comprising air and a burnable gas or a combustion gas from the upper side to the lower side and thereby allowing it to be converted into a stable combustible gas or combustion gas or to be incinerated.
In the erected vertical type reacting furnace, a material input port and an air inlet are formed in a furnace top part and a fire grate and a gas outlet are formed in a lower part thereof; a material of biomass (waste wood or the like) or an incineration object is continuously inputted from the furnace top part; when it is first ignited by an auxiliary combustion device on the fire grate and thereafter a hot gas containing air (oxygen) is passed from the upper part to the lower part by an induced draft fan and/or a draft effect of a chimney, the downward movement floor comprising the drying layer, the volatilization (gasification) layer and the combustion layer in a descending order is continuously formed on the fire grate.
